Pictured Accident, Real Fear (2023) is created as a continuation of Community Slogan (2023) that is also on display in the exhibition. In attempting to analyze the use of panic-inducing imagery in fire-prevention posters that promote safe charging of two-wheeled electric vehicles, the artist looks back upon his personal experience of seeing the above mentioned posters in the community he lives in. As a non-electric bike user, he felt the intense sense of unease and fear that was conveyed by the imaginary scene of an exploding electric bike depicted in the posters. Out of the distrust of this sense of fear constructed by such synthetic imagery, the artist wants to replicate the instantaneous scene of an rechargeable battery bursting into flames in real space. Referring to the descriptions of two-wheeled electric vehicles’ battery units and pictures of related products on the Internet, he uses 3D modeling to create an "imaginary" object that imitates the shape of a rechargeable battery unit. The model is then 3D-printed into a set of six objects, which are positioned at the end of a corridor in the lounge area of the venue. A mass of matte black spray paint is then applied to the objects and the wall behind them, depicting the heavy flame and smoke emitted at the moment of the explosion of a battery pack. The installation work sits in the space quietly, letting the depicted devastating scenery occupy a corner of the otherwise tidy space with its silently aggressive visual effect.
